2014 Ed Bitz Scholarship Recipients Announced

Congratulations go out to Wendi Winter (ON) and Emma Jerome Smith (AB), the recipients of the 2014 Ed Bitz Scholarship.

Wendi is from Whitby, Ontario and is enrolled in the final year of the Contemporary Studies and History Program at Wilfred Laurier University. She started umpiring in 2011 and is currently a Level II FP umpire.

Emma is from Calgary and is entering the second year of a Zoology program at U of C towards a veterinary career path. She also started umpiring in 2011 and is currently a Level II FP umpire.

Both Wendi and Emma will receive a $1000 scholarship named in honour of Ed Bitz, Softball Canada’s first National Director of Umpires.

Congratulations to both these fine young scholars and officials!
